Harun Zrno Q&A

The attraction of going to college is no longer only used by active high school graduates, but more and more Europeans are also choosing the delayed path to the USA, as Fedor Žugić at the age of 21, for example, has shown. Another name that falls into this category is 2025 Guard Harun Zrno, with whom Pro Insight’s Florian Kurth connected with for an exchange.

He is currently having a strong season in the Bosnian league and has gained some serious college interest as a result. He is currently exploring his options and getting to know each staff, in order to make the best decision for himself in the future. Below, we cover Zrno’s background, his game, some of his off-court interests, goals, and much more.

For the next installment of the Pro Insight Q&A series, we present 2025 prospect Harun Zrno from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina:

Pro Insight: To start things off, can you please introduce yourself and walk us through your basketball journey, so far?

Harun Zrno: I am Harun Zrno and I come from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am 20 years old. After a year-and-a-half spent in Latvia, I returned home and I play for KK Slavija. So far, I am playing my best basketball in my career and I am eager for further progress.

PI: Do you have any athletes in your family?

HZ: My father and aunt played basketball, but not at such a high level.

PI: Growing up, who did you look up to on the court?

HZ: My idol among older players was Kobe, and next to him, the player I looked up to and tried to take a lot from him was Bogdan Bogdanović from the NBA.

PI: Is there anybody you model your game after right now?

HZ: At the moment my player from whom I try to take as many of my things as possible is Bogdan Bogdanović.

PI: How would you describe your own game to someone who’s never seen you play?

HZ: First, I would say that I am a very energetic player who contributes a lot on both ends of the floor and always plays to win and never gives up. In addition to being a dog, things like defense, court vision and shooting come to the forefront as my biggest ways to impact the game.

PI: What is an aspect of your game that you are currently really focused on improving?

HZ: I'm always trying to improve every segment of my game, even if it’s something that I do quite well. I think that everything can be improved, so I pay attention to every part of my game.

PI: What’s something about your game that you feel is underrated?

HZ: I think my psychological strength is underestimated and that it is very important for life outside of sports, and in sports it can be crucial.

PI: Are you a fan of going to the weight room?

HZ: I am a player who really likes to go to the gym and stay for several hours in order to keep my body at a very high level and lift it even higher.

PI: Which position do you see yourself playing, longterm?

HZ: I see myself in the position of defender and shooter who will do his best to be the best version of himself every day.

PI: What’s your schedule like on an off-day? Any hobbies you have off the court?

HZ: My day off after the game I try to spend as much time as possible with my family and try to recover in the best possible way for the next challenges ahead of me. I really like to read books and improve in things outside of basketball.

PI: Would you say you are more introverted or extroverted personality-wise?

HZ: I would say that I am an extrovert. I really like to spend time with friends and people, to learn new things and to spread positive energy on other people around me.

PI: Are you a music fan? If so, what are you listening to?

HZ: I can say that I am somewhere between those who do not like it and those who love it, but music can sometimes have a very positive effect on me.

PI: How is the season going for you in general right now?

HZ: This is my best season so far and I can say that I feel very good and that I finally got the opportunity to show all my possibilities on the court and to show myself in the best light.

PI: What are the goals for the rest of the season?

HZ: The goal for the rest of the season is to try to be even better than what I'm giving right now and to achieve great success as a team and to make progress and come out better from this season.

PI: You seem to be open to the U.S. college route – do you have any dream schools?

HZ: The wish of every basketball player is to come to America and play college basketball and reach the NBA, so the opportunity is opening up for me and I believe that together with my agents I will make the right decision.

PI: Which subject would you like to study in college?

HZ: I haven’t thought about that yet, I will do some research and see what interests me. I believe it will be sports management or marketing.

PI: Where do you see yourself in five years? Both on and off the court.

HZ: Five years is quite a long time, I don't like to think too much about the future, I have four years of a college career ahead of me – I want to reach my maximum there, so we'll see what happens.

PI: At the end of the day, what do you want to be remembered for?

HZ: As a basketball player, I want to be remembered as a player who in every moment worked on every part of his body and game and tried to be the best version of himself. On the other hand, I want to be remembered as a humble person who wants to make the people around him happy and help them as much as possible.
