Event Recap: Pro Insight Pop-Up Run

Updated: Nov 5

In the latest edition of ‘P.I. Pulse’, Pro Insight’s Matt McKay highlights a group of prospects from the second-annual Pro Insight Pop-Up Run in Tualatin, Oregon:

The best high school talent in the PNW assembled under one roof at Riverside High School in Tualatin, OR on Saturday, November 2 for Pro Insight’s second-annual Pop-Up Run, presented by Global Sports and Events. The morning began with some 3-on-3 progression stations and a brief team development component before evolving into 5-on-5 games for the rest of the afternoon.

In addition to the on-court action, the Pop-Up included some enriching off-court programming, including a leadership development session led by guest speaker Chris Rivers (Chris Rivers RAPP), a longtime basketball executive, as well as a vertical jump station led by sports performance coach Nate Graham (ROKKE Performance Therapy). All on-court programming was led by Coach Beno Memory (Hoop Dreams Basketball), a veteran player development specialist. The event was composed of four teams of 9 and were coached by Donald Watts (Watts Basketball), DJ Shaw (DJ Shaw Hoops), Marquis Matthews (Players Only), and Jordan Railey (Westview).

With national scouts on hand, an impressive number of the event’s 36 participants boosted their stock (in fact, we listed all 18, here) with their play on Saturday and in this article, Pro Insight’s Matt McKay outlines 10 who made an especially strong impression.

Pop-Up Run Stock-Boosters

Barlow HS (OR) | 6’6” Forward | 2025 | 17.4 years old

Recruitment: Portland State (Committed)

The late-blooming forward had the gym buzzing throughout the day and made a strong case for being the best long term prospect in the gym. After playing JV as a sophomore, he popped at the Les Schwab Invitational in 2023 and has continued to trend up over the past year. He makes good use of his physical tools on both ends as a naturally-gifted athlete with length and has made consistent strides in his ability to handle the ball and make things happen off the bounce. Portland State did a fantastic job identifying Barron earlier than others, securing his commitment in September.

Lattimore Ford

Mount Si HS (WA) | 6’6” Wing | 2026 | 17.2 years old

Recruitment: Washington, Stanford, Portland, Pepperdine, Montana State, Oklahoma, Montana, Seattle U, Idaho, Utah State, San Diego State, Utah, Eastern Washington, Weber State, Washington State (Offers); Kansas, Boise State, Gonzaga (Interest)

Ford may be one of the PNW’s most explosive athletes, but he showed layers to his game in Portland. He’s comfortable in a secondary playmaking role, with an ability to make plays for others in the halfcourt. He’s a dangerous slasher with court vision, touch and creativity as a play-finisher. He’s also a multi-level shot-maker who displayed easy three-point range throughout the day. Ford flashed plenty of potential on the defensive side, too, leaving little question as to how he’s already accumulated nearly 20 D1 offers.

Ethan Harris

Camas HS (WA) | 6’8” Forward | 2026 | 16.9 years old

Recruitment: Portland, Montana State, Idaho, Montana, Weber State (Offers); Portland State, Washington, Rice, Seattle U, Boise State, Eastern Washington (Interest)

Harris broke out at this event last year before showing out at the 2023 Hardwood Invite and has maintained a steady upward trajectory over the past 12 months. He brings legit frontcourt size and a motor to match. He rebounds his position, fights to stay in front on switches, makes an effort to cover a ton of ground defensively, possesses soft touch as a paint finisher, and has a pure shooting stroke with 25’ range. There aren’t many frills to Harris’ game, but his game is endearing, and an increasing number of college programs are taking notice.

Tripp Haywood

Garfield HS (WA) | 6’3” Guard | 2027 | 16.9 years old

Recruitment: Portland, Montana (Offers); Stanford, Washington, Portland State, Oregon, Oregon State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Boise State, Utah, Alabama, Utah State, Seattle U, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Washington State (Interest)

Haywood entered the event with some hype after averaging 20 PPG on Nike’s E15 circuit over the summer with NW Rotary Rebels, and after seeing it up close at the pop-up, it’s no wonder he’s already receiving heavy high major interest. The sophomore guard brings solid perimeter size, athletic tools, a motor, a functional handle, and intriguing upside as a self-creator. He is a name to know out of a city known for producing pro guards.

Fuzzy Montague

Roosevelt HS (OR) | 6’1” Guard | 2026 | 17.3 years old

Recruitment: Portland, San Jose State, Seattle U (Offers); Portland State, San Diego, Montana State, Georgia Tech, Idaho State, New Mexico, Boise State, La Verne (Interest)

Montague apparently wasn’t satisfied after being named one of the top players in last year’s pop-up run, so he ran it back and was once again honored as one of the top four players in the event, per the Pop-Up coaching staff. The lefty lead guard is heady, crafty, smart, and skilled. He’s a multi-faceted threat in the halfcourt thanks to his ability to find a teammate or call his own number. Expect a continued uptick in his recruitment as he settles in at Roosevelt this season.

Bam Paschal

Central Catholic HS (OR) | 5’11” Guard | 2026 | 16.9 years old

Recruitment: Portland, Portland State (Offers); Washington, TCU, Oregon, Seattle U, UCSB, Oklahoma (Interest)

Those Power 5 programs showing interest in the sub-6’ guard are not typos — this PG can flat out play. After serving as one of Central Catholic’s most important players during their 2023-24 6A state championship run as a sophomore, he’ll look to help spearhead a repeat alongside his big brother, Duce (see below) and Wake Forest commit Isaac Carr. Paschal is one of the toughest two-way competitors in the region. He’s ultra confident, he plays hard, the jumper continues to improve, and his athleticism is now really beginning to kick in. For anyone in the Portland area, he’s a must-see this season.

Duce Paschal

Central Catholic HS (OR) | 6’5” Wing | 2025 | 18.2 years old

Recruitment: Portland State, Weber State (Offers); Portland, Georgia Tech, Seattle U, San Jose State, Cal Baptist, FGCU, Oregon State, St. Thomas, UC Irvine, Radford, Colorado State, UC Riverside (Interest)

He’s the oldest player on this list (by a few months), but from a developmental standpoint, Duce is on as exciting of a trajectory as anyone. It feels as if every time our staff sees him, he gets better, and shows another wrinkle to his game. He’s now all of 6’5”, a functional athlete and a vastly improved shooter — all while still doing the same ‘glue guy’ things that he’s always done. Simply put, Duce drives winning, and his recruitment is heating up quickly as a result.

Gylan Payne

Oregon City HS (OR) | 6’5” Wing | 2025 | 17.6 years old

Recruitment: George Fox, Western Oregon (Offers); Pacific (Interest)

Payne initially caught Pro Insight’s attention at the aforementioned Harwood Invite, last December. He switched 1-5 on D, ran the show for his team, and seemed to flirt with a triple-double every time he stepped onto the floor. To put it lightly, we walked out of the gym last winter impressed. With that said, we had some lofty expectations for Gylan coming into Saturday’s pop-up…and the 6’5” unsigned senior proceeded to blow them out of the water with his performance. He is a true playmaker on both sides of the ball, is comfortable with or without the ball in his hands and has become one of the best athletes in Oregon’s 2025 class. In Pro Insight’s six years of existence, we’ve sporadically come across some egregiously under-recruited players and all we can say is: add Gylan Payne to the list.

Breylon Webb

O’Dea HS (WA) | 6’7” Forward | 2025 | 17.9 years old

Recruitment: Air Force, Bucknell (Offers); Cornell, Holy Cross, Idaho, Idaho State, Morehead State, Montana, Saint Mary's (Interest)

Our staff first evaluated Webb nearly four years ago at Pangos Junior All-American Camp and we’ve had the chance to check in on him multiple times since, but having some familiarity did not prepare us for what we witnessed in Portland: Webb is hiding in plain sight at the same high school that produced the #1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The combo forward boasts nearly 7-foot arms, moves with fluidity, stretches the floor with a repeatable shooting stroke, and is capable of guarding up or down the lineup. He still needs to get stronger (most do), but the upside here is very clear.

Brian Webster

O’Dea HS (WA) | 6’3” Guard | 2026 | 17.7 years old

Recruitment: Portland (Offer); Portland State, Idaho,, Seattle U, Boise State, Montana, Washington State (Interest)

Webster entered Saturday’s event with the billing as one of the best 2026 prospects in the state of Washington and he drove back up I-5 leaving no doubt, further cementing his status as a priority PNW recruit. The junior guard is wired to score and can do so in bunches, from multiple levels. He took a few minutes to get going in game one, but once he found his rhythm, he was virtually impossible to contain. He can generate a bucket on his own and isn’t bothered by contests, which is a tough combination for defenders. The NW Rotary Rebels product will be one to track in the Metro League, this season.
